Powerful Allen ready for season
LaQuinton Allen. A 4.95 40-yard first step off the line allows the 6'0" 270 pound prospect to be a force on the Panther's run stopping defense.Pure strength and speed are the best ways to describe Sterlington, La. defensive tackle
"Definitely my size and quickness are my biggest features that I can contribute at the next level," Allen said.
Already coaches have begun to take notice of his skills, as interest from Arkansas State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Tulane, and ULM has already come in. LaQuinton even garnered attention his 8th grade season, as Kansas State and Auburn each sent mail inquiring about him. "I guess they just didn't do their homework on his age, or maybe they were just that interested in him," Collins said of Allen, who has averaged 65 tackles through his high school career.
Despite all of the early attention, Allen is still leaving the door wide open for his recruitment process. "I don't really have a front runner right now, I'm just looking for a place that I can come in and have immediate playing time," he said.
"Q-dog" as called by Head Coach Mike Collins put up big numbers last season, as he collected 67 tackles, five sacks, and 17 tackles for loss. "He's a top shelf kid for character and has been a key contributor for us since his 8th grade year," Coach Collins added about his defensive leader.
