Three-star Grant Harris Signs with MSU
Grant Harris of Clinton chose the Bulldogs over Southern Miss on Wednesday after being a Bulldog lean for nearly a year.Mississippi State got some good news on signing day with their class coming together and one of those members made his decision today. Three-star defensive end
"I think State is a family environment and a really good school," Harris said. "It was a tough decision trying to get everything down and see where I fit the most but when it came down to it, that was the best place for me."
At the end of the day, the relationship that Harris had with his future position coach, David Turner, was too much to overcome for outside schools. Turner was also Harris' recruiter making that bound even more concrete.
"He's my position coach. It means a lot when my positional coach is recruiting me," Harris said. "That was a good selling point and one that I felt really comfortable with."
Now that Harris is officially on board, he is excited about the future of the defense.
"I think it will be a real good defense next year," Harris said of his defense. "I had to sit down and think about where I fit the best and they have a good group of lineman and coach Turner does a great job with them. I think it'll be one of the top lines in the SEC."
Once a problem to Harris was the prospects of possibly moving inside to play defensive tackle instead of his usual end position. He said all of that was put to rest by Turner.
"Coach Turner told me I could play defense end when I went there but that there's a chance I move inside if I get bigger," Harris said. "I'll play wherever I fit best. That's not really an issue anymore."
