Decision Day for 2014 quarterback Grier

On Wednesday one of the nation's premier quarterbacks in the Class of 2014 will make his college decision public. Davidson (N.C.) Davidson Day quarterback Will Grier is down to a final four of Florida, North Carolina, NC State and Tennessee.

"I've just had the idea for some time now of where I have wanted to go," said Grier of his decision to commit early. "I've talked to a few people and I feel confident and I am not the kind of guy to decommit, so I just want to go ahead and get it done with."

After unofficially visiting Florida in mid December, the 6-foot-3, 171-pound signal caller noted that he wanted to visit North Carolina and NC State one more time before making his final decision, but said those plans fell through.

"I called up there," commented Grier, "but Carolina isn't playing in a bowl game, so its hard to work out something with them. And it was hard to work something out with NC State, but I talked to both of them and I am good with them."

Grier, a 2014 Rivals250 Watch List Member, was recently named to the AP North Carolina All-State team after an incredible junior season. During the season he set a national record by passing for 837-yards in a single game.

For the year he threw for over 5,000-yards and 60 touchdowns.

Rivals.com recruiting analyst Mike Farrell likes what he has seen from Grier.

He's one of the better quarterbacks in the country," commented Farrell. "One of only eight ranked as a 5.9 or higher on our RR scale.

"He's a dual-threat and can move, but I think he's excellent in the pocket and will only need to run when rushed in college, he's comfortable setting up and throwing unlike some other quarterbacks who put up impressive rushing stats in high school.

"I saw him at our North Carolina Rivals/VTO Camp last spring and he was essentially an unknown but he stood out. For a thin quarterback, he can really sling it and has a live arm. His accuracy really stands out as he can put the ball in tight slots. I see him as a guy who will only improve as he adds strength and size.

The future Army All American said he has let all of the coaching staff's of his finalists in on his intentions and noted that he doesn't plan on making his announcement into some sort of over the top recruiting announcement spectacle.

"I don't want to make it bigger than it is," said Grier. "I will let some of the papers know around here and put it on Twitter and promote my team. I might so something bigger for Signing Day, but this is just a verbal commitment."

After finally making his public announcement Grier said he will then turn to the recruiting trail himself, in an attempt to lure other prospects to join him at his future destination.
