Boyster getting one last game in
Although it is just a few days before National Signing Day that hasn't stopped one future Wildcat from continuing to work on his skills and prepare for the next level - along with having some fun.
Arizona offensive center commit Beau Boyster will be taking part in the Prepstar California Classic Game tonight at 6 p.m. PST at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
The three-star prospect predominantly played right tackle for his team from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco this season, but the game's practices gave him a chance to work at some other positions along the offensive line.
"I'm going to be starting at left guard," Boyster said. "I'm like the designated puller, I pull on almost every single run play. But, I worked a little bit at center [during practice]."
Boyster said that the game will give him a chance to get out on the field one more time against some good competition.
"It's just a good experience to go against some real good guys," Boyster said. "Doing a bunch of one-on-one sets as an inside player is much different than when you're at tackle. So it's just those types of things ... it will be fun."
The 6-foot-4 future Wildcat said that the adjustment hasn't been to big moving down the offensive line a few spots.
"It hasn't been too much of an adjustment," Boyster said. "I've been around football since the day I was born pretty much, so I've been able to work my way around the offensive line since I've been playing. I think my dad always knew I was going to play center, he always let me snap it since I was real young.
"But it hasn't been too much of an adjustment, it's just that I'm used to playing on the right side so when I get on the left side sometimes it's a little awkward. But thankfully, it's not too much of an adjustment."
The North team features plenty of solid prospects like Washington State commit Khalil Pettway, but Boyster will be suiting up for the South squad and one of his teammates has been very impressive to the future UA center.
"There's a linebacker from (Gardena, Calif.) Serra, who's committed to Nebraska (Thomas Brown), and he's a really, really good football player," Boyster said. "He's been one of the better players on defense, he has great pursuit and takes great angles. Also Chris Frost from Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) has impressed me the most."
For Boyster, the game presents one last chance to put on the pads before heading to Tucson to start his college career, but he hopes to have a little fun as well.
