Joy sets BC official visit
Tim Joy couldn't make Boston College's season opener against Northwestern because his team had a scrimmage but it wasn't a major problem because the North Chelmsford (Mass.) Chelmsford prospect has been down to Chestnut Hill a bunch of times in recent months.
Since committing to Boston College in June, Joy estimates he's been to campus three or four times to watch practice and familiarize himself with what's going on.
All those trips should give him an advantage when coming in as a freshman since he'll have at least an idea of what to expect from the coaching staff.
"It's awesome being so close," Joy said. "Not a lot of players get to be down there all the time and for me I can go down there whenever I want. It's only like 30 minutes away from my house.
"I just like to get down there, watch them play, and I learn a lot. It's just a good experience. It definitely helps because I'm a little more familiar with it than a lot of kids going in there."
Joy, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound two-star outside linebacker, has set his official visit for the NC State game in mid-November. Even though he's been to Boston College a bunch recently he's thrilled to get down there again especially for an entire weekend.
"I'm really excited," Joy said.
"It's going to be fun to be with the players and have the opportunity to meet everyone. I'm over there a lot watching games and I was watching a lot of practices this summer so it's just good to be around there. I love it there."
First, Joy is getting focused to do well in his senior season. Rated as the ninth-best prospect in the Massachusetts state rankings by Rivals.com, a lot is expected from Joy, who said his Chelmsford team should be pretty solid this season.
Chelmsford opens up this weekend against Westford Academy.
"We're looking good so far," Joy said. "We've had two scrimmages and it should be a really good season because we have a really good team."
