North Chicago guard getting noticed

Coming off one of his best performances on the season, with twenty-six points in a sectional final victory, six-foot 2012 guard Aaron Simpson is going to be one of the names to follow for recruits in the state of Illinois this spring and summer. However, with his North Chicago squad on to the super-sectionals, Simpson is going to make use of the extended high school season to make an impact with college coaches.

Simpson's game is best described as high octane for every minute of the game. Although he plays with great speed and intensity, he has shown a knack to maintain control. He possesses an outstanding burst, along with a solid outside shot. Lay off him on the perimeter, and he is a threat to drop a three on you; play him tight and he will use that burst to get by you, and take it in the lane and either put up a shot or pass it to an open teammate with an open look.

Per Simpson, he has averaged 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game for the 16-13 North Chicago team.

Schools that have been showing interest in Simpson include LSU, Marquette, DePaul, Xavier, Bradley, Illinois State, and Dayton. Simpson notes he holds an offer from Marquette. He has made visits to Purdue, DePaul and Marquette. Simpson does not have a favorite at this point; he simply wants to play college basketball.

He does note that he has a preference for a program that plays an up-tempo style. He expects to use this summer to develop his game more, as he feels his ball-handling is not where he would like it. He also looks to grow interest in his recruitment, and hear from any school interested in his game, with a decision on his collegiate destination likely to come after the start of his senior year.
