Vincent ready to work
Lucas Vincent hasn't been on the losing side of things in quite some time. In football, Vincent helped the Eagles steamroll to a 13-0 record and a state title. Last year, in wrestling, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound athlete won another state title. By our calculations, the last time Vincent came up short in any sport was Nov. 14, 2008, in football.Olathe North (KS) defensive tackle
Vincent isn't about to start losing now, either. This weekend, Vincent -- already committed to Missouri -- is taking his official visit to Columbia. He said he's ready to do a little recruiting.
"I'm used to winning," Vincent laughed. "I want to see how many we can get to commit this weekend."
The three-star recruit said he isn't going to be an animated, in-your-face, gimmicky recruiter (we all know the stories of those coaches). Rather, he said he's learned from the best, and he's going to mimic the style he knows well.
"I'm going to do it the way coach (Andy) Hill has done it," Vincent said. "He's laid back and relaxed, and he really builds a relationships with the players. He's the best, in my opinion, so I'm going to do what he does."
The list for this weekend is long, with over ten recruits in town. Vincent admits he has his work cut out for him. But, he won't be alone. Four other current recruits who are currently committed to the Tigers will visit this weekend. Vincent said he hopes to get to know James Franklin, Anthony Gatti, Nick Demien and Jimmie Hunt, in order to recruit the uncommitted recruits and get ready for their time in black and gold.
"I've been here before," Vincent said. "I know what to expect. I just want to hang out with the guys, get to know some of the current players, and help get the best players to Missouri."
