Edwards wants to decide soon
2010 Garland defensive tackle Jeremiah Edwards is starting to see his recruitment heat up. Already, Edwards has offers from Kansas and Tulsa, and is also getting strong interest from Oklahoma State. Edwards says he wants to commit somewhere in the next several months.
"I am just trying to get it over with so I won't be stressing later on," Edwards said.
The 6-foot-1 defensive linemen said he plans to visit Lawrence over his spring break in two weeks to get a feel for what Kansas has to offer.
"I don't really know anything about Kansas right now," Edwards said.
Edwards' stock started to rise last year as his play improved as the season went on. Edwards credited the coaches at Garland for implementing the "Get-Off" drill during practices. A coach would act as the center on the offensive line and would hike the ball. The players that got off the line the fastest would start the next game.
"It turned my play around," Edwards said.
Right now Edwards is going through winter workouts getting ready for spring practices, which will start in two months. Edwards, who currently weighs 272-pounds, is trying to get his 40-time down below a 4.9.
"I want to be the fastest DT I can be," Edwards said.
Edwards' brother, Deraymous Rose, who played football at Southeastern Oklahoma State, gives him advice about going through the recruiting process.
"He told me don't pick a school by its name, but pick a school that is right for you," Edwards said.
