Spartans vs Badgers for safety?

One of the top defensive back prospects on the board for the Michigan State Spartans is Lubern Figaro of Everett High School in Massachusetts. SpartanMag.com caught up with the 6-foot-0, 180-pound prospects and got the details on his recruitment.

Under Head Coach Mark Dantonio and Defensive Coordinator Pat Narduzzi, Michigan State has become the top defensive team in the Big Ten. Much of that success is due to outstanding secondary play. The Spartans will graduate two All-Big Ten defensive backs this year in Isaiah Lewis and Darqueze Dennard. Figaro is one of the players the staff has identified as having the ability to come in and carry on that tradition of excellence.

Figaro has an impressive list of offers, but he has narrowed his list down to a few main suitors. This past weekend he took and official visit to one of them, the Wisconsin Badgers. We asked Figaro about his trip to Madison.

"It was a great visit out to Madison," Figaro stated. "It is a great environment; I really enjoyed meeting the players, the fans and all of the coaches."

One of the positive aspects about the visit to Madison is that Figaro's teammate from Everett High School last year, Jakarrie Washington, is on the Badgers.

While the bar was set high by the University of Wisconsin, Figaro indicated that he is looking forward to taking a few more visits to make sure he finds the best fit. We asked him about his plans.

"I am planning on visiting Michigan State the weekend of November 2nd," he stated. I am also looking to take a visit to Syracuse as well. The school I end up going to will be based on where I think I can be set up best for success in life."

As far as the Spartan recruitment of Figaro, Defensive Coordinator Pat Narduzzi has handled much of the leg work. Narduzzi likes players that have the ability to play fast and aggressive. We asked Figaro about his feedback from the Spartans

"Coach Narduzzi keep sin contact with him .They have said they like how I am quick and physical and how I am a play-maker/ball-hawk."

Everett High School is currently 1-1 on the season. The Crimson Tide lost two weeks ago to Xaverian Brother's High School. The win vaulted Xaverian to the #1 ranking in the state of Massachusetts. Figaro indicated that he is hoping his team gets another shot at Xaverian High and it could happen if both teams make the state championship game.

Figaro is currently rated a 2-star recruit, which is obviously is something that needs to be addressed. You do not have two Big ten powers traveling out to Massachusetts for a player unless they see him as an impact level recruit. Figaro's' junior film is very impressive and I am sure once his senior film is evaluated he will shoot up the rankings.

SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow up with Figaro after his official visit to Michigan State. The weekend of November 2nd should be special as not only are the Spartans and Wolverines doing battle, but numerous top recruiting targets for the class of 2014 and 2015 will be in East Lansing for the festivities.
