HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Sometimes it isn't the biggest player that makes the biggest splash and after meeting 3-star defensive tackle Poona Ford on Thursday, we learned that despite only checking in just shy of 6-foot-1, that the big time defensive line prospect has a bright future and that the sky is the limit for Ford.

Ford already holds double-digit offers but some schools may be concerned that he is not the traditional size for a 3-technique player. But schools become believers once they see him in action and realize that Poona's talents more than make up for a lack of height in playing the position.

Ford recently maxed out at 660-pounds in the squat, did a 9.5-foot standing broad jump (cold, no warming-up) and lifted 375-pounds in the hang clean. His strength is "country strong" as on observer put it and that Ford is one of the most determined workers in the weight room that he has ever seen.

Schools are still making inquires on Ford and more offers could be coming, but it seems that Ohio State and Tennessee are two teams that are staying near the top for Ford in his recruitment and Ford plans on visiting Columbus (Ohio) for a second visit in June to take part in Ohio State's camp and see the campus as a "recruit" rather than just a visitor (as he did on his first visit).

We caught up with Ford after practice on Thursday and despite being very soft-spoken in words and humble, he talked about his game and the process. Check it out.
