Henderson enjoys visit to MSU

One of the top players on the recruiting board for Michigan State for the class of 2014 is quarterback Caleb Henderson of Lake Braddock High School in Virginia. SpartanMag.com was abler to get some details about his time in East Lansing.

Henderson and his family traveled to Michigan State this weekend to see the Spartans take on the Northwestern Wildcats. While the outcome was not what Michigan State fans wanted, Henderson did see Andrew Maxwell throw the ball 46 times for 297-yards.

Henderson has been at the top of the Spartan board for quite some time. He was offered early last summer and the staff has kept in frequent contact with him throughout the process. Henderson now holds scholarship offers from over a dozen BCS teams.

Henderson has kept his recruiting information pretty close to the vest, but he did send us the following message about his visit to Michigan State.

"My family and I had a great time and the coaches spent a lot of time with us," Henderson said. "Coach Dantonio, Coach Narduzzi and Coach Warner are really good coaches and leaders and it was a great day."

Henderson has indicated in the past that he would like to make an early deciosn and Michigan State would be completely happy if he decide to commit to Green and White. The Spartans are already off to an impressive start to the class of 2014 and Henderson would create even more momentum for what could be a very special class.

Henderson was not able meet with standout 2014 wide receiver Drake Harris as he was busy helping lead his high school team to the state championship. Harris is the best wide receiver prospect top come out of Michigan in over a decade and he certainly would be excited about the possibility of Henderson becoming a Spartan.

The recent addition of Maryland as well as possibly Rutgers to the Big Ten would have to be viewed as positives in the Spartan recruitment of Henderson. The move puts two more programs within a 4 hour drive of his home.

SpartanMag.com will be sure to continue following the recruitment of this "plan A" recruit for Coach Dantonio and his staff.
