Ohio back likes BC's pitch

Godwin Igwebuike has verbal offers from Boston College, Duke and Buffalo and it's probably only a matter of time until that offer list gets significantly longer. At least for now the Eagles appear to be in outstanding shape with the Buckeye State prospect.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect from Pickerington (Ohio) told EagleAction.com a couple of weeks ago that he has had contact with BC assistant Ben Sirmans. Both Igwebuike and his parents are open to Boston College and it seems like the Eagles are poised to make a long-term impression.

"I'm trying to keep in contact with them," Igwebuike said late this week. "I keep in contact with Coach Sirmans, my recruiting coordinator. We stay up with each other on Facebook.

"Like I've said, I haven't visited but I hopefully will be able to soon. He really wants me to visit."

While Igwebuike doesn't know what it will be like at BC he has heard plenty of good things.

"BC is a great school and they've got a lot going for them," he said. "It's a great place athletically and academically."

This season the Pickerington back was able to attend games at Ohio State and Louisville.

He rushed for 1,046 yards on just 100 carries and scored 11 times on the ground. He's also a solid defensive player.

"I love playing on both sides of the ball and I'll play wherever my team needs me," he noted. "I'll contribute wherever I can.

"For the most part I've been recruited as a running back but plenty of schools have talked about the defensive side of the ball, too."

It's too early to project what Igwebuike's leader list will look like when all of his offers come in but right now Boston College is in solid shape.

"Of my offers I really like Boston College and Duke. Those are the two I'm really looking at."
