Jackson still wide open

One of the top senior prospects in the Central Ohio area is Columbus Marion-Franklin defensive lineman Terrell Jackson. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound prospect holds double digit offers and is in the middle of an outstanding senior season. Jackson and his Marion-Franklin squad rallied to win a 48-42 overtime thriller over Tri-Valley on Friday night in the Region 7 final and KentStateReport.com was on hand to take in the action.

"There's so much going on right now, I'm at a loss for words right now," said an emotional Jackson after the game. "We just kept saying 'don't quit, don't quit' and when things weren't looking right we just looked up to the sky and kept on fighting."

Jackson spent most of the night in the Tri-Valley backfield, harassing star junior quarterback Nathan Strock. Strock and company got things rolling in the second half but Jackson and company got a key three-and-out late in regulation to set the offense up for the game-tying drive.

"We just knew we had to stop them," he said. "We knew it was going to be a hard game from the get go but we just had to keep working hard."

Jackson is one of the top remaining targets left on Kent State's recruiting board and he has ties to the program as two close friends and former teammates are already on the roster in freshman safety Devante' Strickland and freshman wide receiver Jeremy McCoy.

"I've been talking to coach (Marcus) Freeman," he explained. "I still talk to the two knuckleheads (Strickland and McCoy) as I like to call them and I know they are working hard right now."

Kent State remains in the hunt for Jackson's signature, though he admits he hasn't focused much on recruiting over the last several weeks.

"I don't know where I stand right now," he said. "Right now I'm focused on winning state and once that is over I'll start focusing on recruiting. I'm still interested in any school that is interested in me."

After the season, Jackson will finalize his official visits but he does have one setup at the moment.

"I've got Duke on December 3rd," Jackson said. "That's all I've got setup right now."
