Early attention for Biegel
Recruiting success in the Midwest is challenging for Pac-12 schools when competing with the Big-10. However, that hasn't stopped Chip Kelly and his staff from picking out the kids they want. Last years class included two such recruits in athlete Christian French and defensive tackle Jared Ebert. This year the Ducks are looking at another blue collar type player in linebacker Vince Biegel. Duck Sports Authority spoke with Biegel to see how his recruitment is going and just how much interest the Ducks are showing.
"I've just been enjoying the experience and I've been able to meet some really awesome coaches," said Biegel. "So I'm just kind of having fun with it.
"The linebacker coach (Don Pellum), I've talked to him on the phone. They wanted me to call them up so I actually got to talk to them before they went to the national championship. They're linebackers coach is a good guy. I really like him."
At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, the Wisconsin Rapids, WI native is garnering plenty of attention for his excellent linebacker play his junior season. Biegel has early offers from Tennessee, BYU, Wisconsin, Michigan State among others and is also hearing from Nebraska, Oregon and Air Force. Biegel admits he already has three early favorites.
