Tabb back from Florida schools

The recruiting process is still moving forward at a rapid pace for Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic tight end Jack Tabb.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound prospect from the Garden State picked up an offer from Michigan on Wednesday, and that news came on the heels of a trip to the Sunshine State.

"Actually I just got back from a trip down to Florida," Tabb said. "I've been down there since Monday.

"On Monday I went to Miami, on Tuesday I went to South Florida, and I was at the University of Florida on Wednesday. They were all just unofficial visits.

"I think I really helped myself showing interest in all three of those schools. All three seemed to like me a lot. I spent a long time with coach Meyer. I also spent a lot of time with coach Holtz from USF. The only head coach I didn't get to spend time with was coach Shannon and that's because he wasn't there. I talked to Miami's defensive coordinator, though.

"I liked them all a lot but Florida was probably the best. I didn't know what to expect but I like how they feel about me. I felt really good leaving Florida. I would say that was probably the best trip."

That won't be the last road trip for Tabb before the start of his senior season at Red Bank Catholic.

"I'm going to go on one more trip starting on Sunday," he explained. "I'll go to Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Cincinnati, and on my way home we'll hit North Carolina.

"By then hopefully I'll know enough to make a decision. Hopefully I'll be able to make a decision before the season. I don't want to wait it out too long."

Tabb said he is still hoping to pick up offers from Miami and Notre Dame. Those two schools, plus Florida, are recruiting Tabb as a linebacker.
