Gordon looking at official visits

Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon is back home after making stops at Tennessee and Alabama this week. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound Gordon landed his thirteenth scholarship offer on the trip, but now is going to begin the process of narrowing things down a little. We caught up with the four-star prospect to talk about his recruiting, which schools are on top, his plans for official visits, and much more.

Q: Did you make a couple visits this week?

GORDON: Yeah, I just got back home actually. I went to camps at Alabama and Tennessee this week.

Q: It sounds like Tennessee offered. Did Alabama?

GORDON: No, they're waiting to get back to me.

Q: What was it like to get an offer from Tennessee?

GORDON: It felt good because I went down there and it wasn't just handed to me. I had to work for it, so I cherished that offer a lot.

Q: Is that your first SEC offer? Does that have any significance for you?

GORDON: Yeah, just to show people that guys up here have talent and are good enough to play anywhere. A lot of those schools don't recruit in our area much, but I definitely showed them that guys up here can play ball.

Q: What was the visit to Alabama like?

GORDON: That was probably the hardest camp I've ever been to. The coaches there were intense, but it was good because they picked the little things out of my game and told me what I need to improve on. It was worth it going down there, but man that camp was intense.

Q: How did they leave things as far as recruiting?

GORDON: The running backs coach said he liked me and he's told their staff about me a lot, so hopefully they come back with an offer.

Q: Does all of that make your decision a little harder in a way almost?

GORDON: Yeah, it does actually. It does.

Q: Where are things sitting right now with all of that? Do you have a list?

GORDON: It's Iowa, Tennessee, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Alabama. I want to see some other schools too, but right now those are the schools that I like.

As a junior, Gordon rushed for 1,061 yards and scored 16 touchdowns in leading Bradford High School to an 11-1 record. He also caught 11 passes for 286 yards.

Currently, Gordon holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Louisville, Iowa State, Indiana, Washington State, Syracuse, and Cincinnati.

Rivals.com ranks the four-star prospect at No. 217 in the current Rivals250 and as the top recruit in the state of Wisconsin this year.
