Four-star cornerback still committed, but...

Jermaine Whitehead remains committed to Mississippi State.

However, he's keeping quite the ear open to the Bulldogs' biggest rival.

Whitehead, a four-star cornerback from Greenwood (Amanda Elzy), Miss., has made several visits to Ole Miss since his recruitment began, and he plans to add, at least, one more trip to that list for the Rebels' one-day senior camp July 17.

The 6-foot, 183-pounder has grown close to most of Mississippi's top 2011 prospects, and their college decisions will undoubtedly impact Whitehead's.

"I'm still committed to Mississippi State, but if all those guys go to Ole Miss, I've got to go with them," Whitehead said.

The nation's No. 18 cornerback prospect (according to Rivals) speaks frequently with a number of other elite prospects from the Magnolia State - including Aaron Morris, Justin Bell, Donte Moncrief, Nickalos Brassell and Joseph Morrow.

Whitehead also stays in constant contact with Gadsden City, Ala., wide receiver T.J. Worthy, who recently told RebelGrove.com that he was attending Ole Miss' July 17 camp, and his recruitment would likely end that day.

"Yeah, I'm tight with him too," Whitehead said.

The Clarion-Ledger announced Whitehead as a member of the Dandy Dozen (Mississippi's top 12 high school football players) Friday.

He has offers from the following Bowl Championship Series schools in addition to the two Mississippi members of the Southeastern Conference: Notre Dame, Tennessee, Stanford, Auburn and Arkansas.
