New schools involved with Abdur-Rahman

For a while it appeared as though Maryland was the inevitable destination of running back Jamal Abdur-Rahman.

After all, the Terrapins were, and are, the only school that has offered a scholarship to the 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect. Now, however, more schools are getting involved and showing interest.

"I plan to visit Purdue (this summer) but besides that I'm just working out," Abdur-Rahman said. "They (Purdue) just want to meet me. I've already met one of the coaches and he wants me to meet the rest of the staff and get a feel for the place. He said if I like it and they like me they could potentially offer (a scholarship)."

Abdur-Rahman said he has also been keeping in close contact with Akron and Temple.

Maryland is still a major factor, as he regularly speaks to three members of the Terrapins' coaching staff. Why hasn't he committed to the Terps yet?

"I'm still high on Maryland," he explained. "I'm really high on their school. I just need to see other schools so I can compare and contrast a little bit."
