Things not slowing down for Whitehead

For several months Amanda Elzy cornerback Jermaine Whitehead picked up numerous scholarship offers from some of the top programs in the country.

Since his commitment to Mississippi State in mid April, the newly named four-star prospect has not received any. But that does not necessarily mean that recruiting has slowed down for the Greenwood, Miss., native.

"I haven't got any newcomers but the guys that I did have picked it up," Whitehead said. "After I made my commitment they said that they had to step it up and give me their best. I've been asked to come to a lot of places and I'm going to try to get to as many as possible and see. You never know what is there unless you go and look at it."

Some of the stops Whitehead plans to make this summer are to Memphis, Ole Miss, Alabama and Mississippi State for camps. He will however change up things up as his 7-on-7 squad will travel to Oxford for their tournament as opposed to MSU where they attended last summer.

"The coach asked me if I wanted to go to Ole Miss this year since we went to Mississippi State last year," Whitehead said. "He kind of let me choose. I picked Mississippi State before so I guess he thinks that I'm lucky. I told him I'd like to go to Ole Miss and see what that one looks like."

Whitehead has already participated in the Nike Football Training Camp in Tuscaloosa earlier this spring.
