Saginaw's Arnett names slight favorite

This past weekend wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett of Saginaw High School attended the Michigan State Green and White game. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound All-American wide receiver is in the process of narrowing down his list and one team has edged to the front. SpartanMag.com spoke with the dynamic pass catcher and got the details.

How was the visit to East Lansing?

"It went well. I liked how the team played and how the wide receiver got chances to make plays. I also liked how the quarterbacks played. I was real impressed with Kirk Cousins arm strength. Andrew Maxwell also did a nice job. I have known him for a while now and it looks like he is going to be a good quarterback too. Joe Boisture also did a nice job. I have worked out with him too. I also got a chance to speak with Coach Treadwell."

Did the visit to East Lansing impact you list of favorites?

"Yes, right now I would say Michigan State is my leader, but just slightly. It is still very close between all of the schools I am looking at. I have also decided to add two more teams to the schools I am seriously looking at, Tennessee and Cal."

Have you given any thought to win you might make a decision?

"I am in no hurry," Arnett stated. "My plan right now is to take all of my visits and then make my decision after my senior season."

Arnett has been very upfront about his favorites, but he is keeping this in perspective.

"Michigan State is my favorite right now, but I have not seen some of the other schools as much as I have seen them. I want to see how things go this fall with all the schools I am looking at. I know that a lot can change between now and then."

One of the positives this weekend was that Arnett got a chance to hang out with a few future Spartans and some other top recruits.

"I watched the game with Lawrence Thomas, Justice Hayes and Connor Cook," he said." I am going down to the NIKE Camp this weekend and I might head down early so I can catch balls in the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp. I would get a chance to catch balls from Connor."

Arnett is fired-up to attend the NIKE Camp as it will give him a chance to solidify himself as one of the top players in the nation. With Arnett, Thomas, Hayes, Taiwan Jones and several other high-level prospects planning on attending, the state of Michigan will be well represented.

Arnett indicated that he is not getting pressure from Coach Dantonio or the Spartan staff to make a decision. If anything, Coach Dantonio has informed him that he needs to take his time and make his decision when he feels the time is right.

SpartanMag.com will be at the NIKE Camp this weekend. We will be sure to report on Arnett's performance there as any future developments in his recruitment.
