Arnett talks about MSU visit
This weekend Saginaw High School wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett will be back in East Lansing to attend the Green and White Spring Game. SpartanMag.com was able to catch up with Arnett and get some insight into his upcoming visits and his plans for the coming weeks.
With offers from pretty much every major program in the nation, Arnett is taking his time to learn more about his current favorites. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound All-American prospect has the Spartans in his top 3 for quite a while now and is very familiar with Michigan State. This weekend though, he will get a chance to look at some specific aspects of the Spartan program. We asked him about his upcoming visit.
"I will be looking for how they use their receivers and playmakers, Arnett stated. I know they get the ball out a lot so I want to see how the quarterbacks play. I also want to spend more time with my position coach (Don Treadwell)."
Arnett has stated to SpartanMag.com on several occasions that the chance to make an early impact and the quarterback play at each school is a factor that is important to him. If he were to attend Michigan State, Andrew Maxwell would be the quarterback for his primary years. Maxwell's development is something Arnett is keenly aware of. Arnett knows Maxwell very well from their days of battling in the Saginaw Valley League.
In addition to checking out the Spartan program, Arnett will get a chance to see and possibly speak with several future Spartans and a few players that Coach Dantonio is hoping join the Green and White. Arnett talked about some of the players he has had contact with.
"I talk with Doran Grant, Justice Hayes and Lawrence Thomas," Arnett said. "I have also talked with Connor Cook a few times on Facebook, but not a lot though."
SpartanMag.com has stated on several occasions that Arnett is the best wide receiver prospect we have seen this year. In a little over a week he will get a chance to showcase his talents against the best prospect in the Midwest.
"I will be at the NIKE Camp at Ohio State," Arnett stated. "I want to shut that event down. I lost the MVP last year to Kyle Prater and I want to win it this year."
SpartanMag.com will be at the NIKE Camp covering the camp. We will be sure to report on Arnett performance there and the Spartan Spring Game.
