UW linebacker prospect hoping to play baseball

Cody Kurz is garnering interest from schools across the country, but Washington remains one of his only offers. The middle linebacker from Ventura, Calif. said that he plans on waiting to see if any of his contacts result in more offers.

"I'm just going to wait and see what's out there," Kurz said.

The 6-3, 328-pound prospect playing out of St. Bonaventure said that he doesn't have any trips planned to see colleges right now, as he is in the middle of baseball season.

Speaking of things outside of football, that is what Kurz said tops the list of importance for where he will eventually decide on.

"What is there to do when it's not football season?" Kurz asked. "It's going to be the same anywhere you go with the work outs and practices. I want to go some where there are other things to do off the field."

Kurz said he enjoys fishing, hunting and playing golf when he's not hitting people, which he did with regularity, sometimes racking up as many as five sacks in a game while playing on the defensive line last season, which is not his favorite spot on the field.
