Recruiting news and notes: Spartans look to close strong

Earlier today SpartanMag.com was able to confirm that Michigan State picked up a commitment from Anthony White. Head Coach Mark Dantonio is looking to add a few more players to the class and there are some very high-level recruits that will decide very soon.

Earlier today SpartanMag.com received an e-mail from Coach Sims of Fort Scott Junior College confirming that Anthony White had committed to Michigan State. White is rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com. He selected the Spartans over an offer from Eastern Michigan and
interest from Nebraska.
Michigan State is also hoping to close with 3-star prospect of Mike Dorsey of Warren Harding High School in Ohio. Dorsey has narrowed his list down to Michigan State and West Virginia. He took a visit to East Lansing last weekend and was in Morgantown this past weekend. Head Coach Mark Dantonio is supposed to meet with Dorsey later today on in-home visit.

Michigan State is also hoping to add defensive tackle Bruce Gaston Jr. of Chicago St. Rita High School to the class. White' commitment should not have an impact on Gaston as they are being recruited to play different tackle spots. Gaston is actually a quicker type of tackle that could play both spots. Gaston will make his choice public, tomorrow evening at a family gathering.

The other player the Spartans are after is defensive end Rashad Frazier of Middletown High school in Ohio. Frazier visited last weekend and the information we received is that it went well. Several teams have are still trying to get in on Frazier like the Wisconsin Badgers, however, Frazier is expected to make his decision between Michigan state, Purdue and West Virginia later this week.
