Mountaineer legacy looking around

In the land of the Mountaineers, the name "Braxton" is "royalty."

Jim Braxton, pound for pound, may have been the greatest athlete in the Mountaineers' proud football tradition. He played for Jim Carlen and Bobby Bowden in the late '60s and early '70s. Then he helped O.J.Simpson make huge checks with the Buffalo Bills.

The late Jim Braxton hailed from Vanderbilt, Pa., the hometown of another Mountaineer, West Turner (1983-85). They were half-brothers, which means WVU recruit Landon Turner is related to Braxton. West is his father. Another ex-Gold and Blue player, Phil Braxton, is a cousin.
