Silas having a standout senior season
Two-star Mitchell High School prospect Devin Silas is putting up some impressive numbers this season.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder from Memphis, Tenn., is second on the team in tackles despite playing defensive end and projects as a linebacker at the next level.
Silas has 92 tackles (59 solo, 33 assists), seven sacks, seven forced fumbles, three pass deflections and one fumble recovery for the Tigers.
"The season is going good," Silas said. "We're 7-3 and the playoffs start this Friday. We've got a big game against Jackson North Side. I've looked at them on film and they look good."
He also put up solid stats during his junior season recording 94 stops including six tackles for loss, five sacks and two fumble recoveries.
All of Silas' success on the field has yet to earn him his first scholarship offer but several schools are showing interest.
"UT-Martin sends me a lot of mail," Silas said. "I've talked to the coaches before at UT-Knox. I went to camps at Mississippi State, Kansas, Tennessee and Alabama."
Silas made an appearance in Starkville over the summer but is not sure how much interest the Bulldogs have in him.
