Gator legacy looking at Bulls
"He comes from a football family (his Dad played at Florida)," said Thomson. "His parents did an excellent job raising such a humble, hard-working kid."
The 6'2, 215-pound middle linebacker led the 'Canes in tackles this season with 193 tackles, including 15 against Miami Central in the state championship game.
"Keith has great patience when it comes to finding the football," added co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers' coach Cedderick Daniels. "He puts in the time at nights watching extra film and is probably the hardest working player on our team."
The senior also finished the season with 6.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.
"Because of his dedication, he has positioned himself to be one of the best linebackers to every play at Gainesville and he has also positioned himself to play college football somewhere and get a college degree," added Daniels.
Kelsey was also recognized as first-team all-state in Class 6A this season.
"He leads by example and his intensity on the field was contagious," said Thomson. "The game of football needs more Keith Kelseys."
The word is out on the under-the-radar linebacker. Kelsey received an offer from Kentucky while on the way to Tampa.
Although he has yet to make a commitment to a school, Kelsey could make an announcement following this weekend's trip to Tampa. More to come following this weekend's official visit.
