UTEP lands Dallas Skyline cornerback
When people say that the Dallas (Texas) Skyline program is loaded with division I prospects this fall, it isn't just hyperbole. Before the beginning of June, Skyline already has seven prospects committed to FBS programs. On Monday, that number increased to eight when cornerback Adrian James committed to UTEP following a performance at its camp.
"Yes sir, I committed to UTEP," James said on Monday evening. "I committed today because I went up to camp last week, like on the 15th. I felt good about it and they made me feel comfortable. I liked all the coaches and everything."
UTEP offered James during the spring evaluation period and has been recruiting him heavily since then. That effort paid off.
"They offered me in the spring and they've been waiting on my commitment and I committed today and they said they really liked me and said I was the number two cornerback on their board," said the defensive back.
The primary factor in James' decision was the way he was taught and the way he was worked while competing at the UTEP camp recently.
"I just like the way they taught me and I learned new things," he said. "They had me working hard and I liked the atmosphere. It made me feel real good about the program and I just wanted to commit."
Currently UTEP is the only offer for James who may continue to get more looks and offers throughout the summer and fall due to the size and athleticism he brings to the field.
