Official visit preview: New commit Sonier visiting
Jordan Strebeck
RedRaiderSports.com Here is a full and complete list of official visitors set to be in Lubbock, Texas to see Texas Tech this weekend starting today through Sunday. Some prospects are committed and some aren't and it's quite possibly the biggest weekend the Red Raiders have had this year as far as visits go.
DEFENSIVE LINE
Tyrone Sonier (Committed)- A surprise many months in the making, Sonier's switch from Kansas State to Texas Tech sent ripples throughout both fan bases, as one lost it's most talented defensive recruit and the other gained a very talented pass rusher. Sonier's offer sheet is chalk full of impressive schools and his stock has risen meteorically this year. He will add a lot of athleticism and speed to Tech's defense and is a huge get for the Red Raider coaching staff. He'll be here this weekend along with his mom.
Tech's chances- 100%
LINEBACKER
Bront Bird (Committed)- Though Bird does not possess blazing speed, his 4.1 shuttle time should be an indicator of future competence at his new position, linebacker. He is very similar in build and skill to Blake Lawrence, a Nebraska commit, who has a four-star ranking. Bird has a great frame and should have no problem getting up to a good playing weight after a year or two. The biggest thing about Bird is that he is flat out a play-maker. He has an un-canny knack for being in the right place at the right time and is a great leader as well.
Tech's chances- 100%
