MSU adds another instate cornerback
Lashard Durr was Mississippi State's latest commitment for less than an hour.
Durr was joined by another one of the Magnolia State's top cornerback prospects when Byhalia's Chris Rayford also made his pledge to the Bulldogs Friday afternoon.
"(Coach Deshea Townsend) just talked to me how I would feel to be a part of the team at Mississippi State," Rayford said. "I just decided to take them up on that offer right off. I really like their work ethic and their coaches."
The offer was the first for the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder. He was also being recruited by Auburn, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss. Rayford felt that the two sets of Tigers along with the Rebels were also close to offering.
Rayford was not only the second pick-up of the day for the Bulldogs but also for Townsend. The former two-time Super Bowl Champion cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mississippi native joined MSU's staff in January.
Rayford hopes that Townsend will be able to pass along the knowledge that helped him spend 13-years in the NFL.
