Hocutt breaks down tickets
Mike Graham
RedRaiderSports.com Kirby Hocutt met with the media to go over Jones AT&T Stadium season ticket sales which are available now.
But how was Hocutt going to convince fans to buy season tickets for Big 12 games against TCU, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Kansas State when just last year the Red Raiders hosted Texas, Oklahoma and West Virginia?
Well, there are actually a few selling points.
The Red Raiders have a new head coach in Kliff Kingsbury who was the very first of a legendary string of quarterbacks to come out of Texas Tech in the past decade. He's well liked from his playing days and seems to have the unanimous support of the fan base entering his inaugural season as a head coach.
And that new 38-feet by 100-feet video board which Hocutt said will be the eighth largest in college football.
"I just left my office and you could see that they've started drilling the piers to support that scoreboard just this morning," Hocutt said. "That project continues to move along on time and on pace. It includes the new large screen high definition video board as well as the ribbon boards in the north and south ends of the stadium as well as the northeast and northwest side of the stadium. It includes a new sound system that will be installed in the stadium."
Tech will be banking on Kingsbury and the stadium overhauls to bring in fans, but also made season ticket deals to drive up season ticket purchases.
