There is excitement everywhere around the Ohio State football program as this morning as reports are swirling that Urban Meyer has accepted the head coaching position. With one of the nation's top football coaches in the fold, there are still a lot of questions to be answered as a press conference won't take place until this evening.
Some of the biggest questions that remain unanswered will revolve around recruiting where new targets are certain to emerge over the next several weeks. Still, there are sixteen committed prospects in Ohio State's 2012 class and this news affects them as well. We caught up with many of the current commits to get their thoughts on having Urban Meyer as their future head coach.
WR Frank Epitropoulos - "I'm very excited to have an opportunity to play for coach Urban Meyer. He's had success at Florida and I see it transferring over to Ohio State simply because he's a winner. I'm also looking forward to meeting him and getting to know him as a person."
DE Adolphus Washington - "I'm very excited about (the hire). It's what I hoped for and I can't wait to meet him."
DB Tyvis Powell - "I'm excited to go to Ohio State. Urban Meyer is a great head coach that will bring life back into the program. Under him, I'm positive we will be a BCS championship contender. Not only will I be getting a great education but also great coaching. Who knows, maybe if I'm lucky enough I can be a Joe Haden, just a taller version."
DB Najee Murray - "I am excited to have him as my coach in the future. He is a smart coach and I know he will keep the OSU tradition alive. Go Bucks!"
TE TE Blake Thomas - "I'm just excited to play for him and I'm confident that he will do a good job as my coach."
OL Pat Elflein - "I'm excited to have him as a coach and play under him. I can't wait to finally meet him. I would like to have coach Fickell stay on staff though because he recruited and offered me."
LB Josh Perry - "If coach Urban Meyer is in, that is a good pick up. He is a proven winner and his past players like him and respect him. I would like to see (Luke Fickell) stay on, but if he doesn't, I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes."
