Florida athlete Howard talks Vols
Orlando, Fla., athlete Alton Howard is far from the player he used to be when he first started playing football. His early days as a plump player in youth football earned him a nickname that's stuck to this day.
"I was chubby in pop warner ball and they called me 'Pig.' I was so big that I got to play only like 10 plays a game," Howard said of what now seems like an ill-fitting moniker.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound do-it-all athlete has come a long way from his football beginnings. Now, he's an elite high school prospect with dozens of offers.
Rivals.com ranks Howard a four-star prospect and the No. 43 ranked wide receiver in the country.
