G.L. Gridiron: Burbridge TD pass helps Harrison to victory
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Michigan State commitment Aaron Burbridge caught four passes and threw a touchdown pass on a fake field goal as Farmington Hills Harrison improved to 2-0 on the season with a 28-14 victory over Southfield.
"It was a very tough game against a very physical, well-coached team" said Harrison head coach John Herrington. "I am just happy we won."
Burbridge threw the 20-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-11.
The defending Division 2 state champion and No. 1 ranked Hawks clinched the victory on a 3-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jake Vento.
"Jake was phenomenal, beat up pretty good and still great runs," said Herrington. "Everybody talks about our big three, but we are more than that. He is a terrific player and he stepped up and led us today. A lot of courage."
Vento, the younger brother of Michigan State's freshman walk-on quarterback Tommy Vento, rushed for 115 yards and passed for 65 more.
Michigan commitment Mario Ojemudia recorded two sacks to lead the Harrison defense.
