Flannigan hoping to visit top four this summer
Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall linebacker Ryan Flannigan has been verbally committed to Baylor since March, but over the weekend he decided to re-open his commitment. The 2012 prospect is now focusing on four schools, and Texas Tech looks to be in a great position.
"I'm just taking a look at my top four schools: Texas Tech, Baylor, Arizona State, and Boise State. I'm really trying to figure out where I'm going to best fit in," Flannigan said. "I'm looking to see where I can make the biggest impact on the field, and where I can have the best chance to succeed later in life with what I'll get off the field. I want to make sure that I find a place that will feel like family, and I want to be somewhere that I can get the most out of the college experience."
Flannigan is hoping to visit all four of those schools this summer. He's hoping to have a final decision made within the next two months.
"I'm looking to have a decision made by the end of June, maybe early July," he said. "I would like to get out and see my top four schools, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to make it happen just yet. I'm definitely wanting to have my recruitment wrapped before the end of the summer."
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is the former teammate of DeAndre Washington, a member of Tech's 2011 class.
"He's been throwing little hints at me, kind of playing around with me about it. I've known him for a while and I can tell when he's being serious, though. He hasn't put any pressure on me, but I know he wants me at Tech with him."
Flannigan mentioned the environment surrounding the program as one of his main priorities moving forward.
"I want to play in a good environment really. Aside from the success of the program and the academics of a school, I really want to play somewhere that the fans care about their team," he said. "I want to be a part of a school with a great fan base that really goes crazy for their team. The fans are a big part of college football so I want to be somewhere that has those types of crazy fans."
Aside from Tech, Flannigan currently holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Boise State, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, San Diego State, and Western Kentucky.
