Interest heating up for Mississippi athlete
Brooklyn (Forrest County), Miss., athlete Adarrius Perkins spent this past Saturday at Mississippi State, taking in the Bulldogs' junior day activities.
He didn't learn anything earth-shattering.
"It was good," Perkins said late Saturday. "They were just talking, doing the regular recruiting stuff."
What Perkins did learn is the Bulldogs want him. That's becoming a familiar refrain for the 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety/wide receiver. Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Southern Mississippi have offered, Perkins said, while Tennessee, Nebraska and UCLA are showing major interest.
Perkins is in no hurry to make a decision, though he does plan on graduating high school in December and enrolling at his college of choice in January 2012.
"I'm going to wait," Perkins said. "It all depends. All of the schools are good. It will probably all be about relationships and playing time."
Perkins said he hasn't even decided what position he wants to play at the next level. One of the schools recruiting him the hardest, Ole Miss, hasn't decided where he could help it the most, Perkins said.
"It really doesn't matter," Perkins said. "As of today, I would say offense (is the preferred position), but that's just because in the summer we run a lot of routes."
