Clark solid with Texas Tech
Rockdale (Texas) offensive tackle Le'Raven Clark was in Waco last weekend to take in Baylor's season opener against Sam Houston State. The Texas Tech commit indicates that it wasn't a visit that would impact his commitment to the Red Raiders.
"Yeah, I went to Waco to watch their season opener. It was an unofficial visit. I really just wanted to see some college football so that's where I went," Clark said. "It wasn't really a visit that changed anything about where I stand with Tech, I just went to watch the game. I'm solid with where I'm at. I'm good with Texas Tech."
Clark has began to lay out plans for his official visit to West Texas this fall. Although it may not be in an official capacity, the 2011 commit plans on being in Lubbock on September 18th for the game against Texas. "I haven't really set anything up yet, but I'll be in Lubbock for the Texas game for sure. I don't know if that will be my official visit, but I'll be there for it," he said. "I may take my official after the season is over. The coaches have talked a lot about having more time to spend with us after the season is over, so I'm thinking about doing that."
"I know the coaches also wanted to get a lot of the commits up there together, so a lot of us are planning on going to see them play Texas, but I also know a lot of guys are thinking about taking their officials after the season is over."
The 6-foot-6, 245-pounder has continued to hear from other programs since giving his commitment to the Red Raiders. He cited Baylor and Missouri as the two schools contacting him the most right now, but both are playing catch-up behind the efforts of Tommy Mainord and Texas Tech.
"I spoke with Coach Mainord just a couple of days ago. He's a cool guy, easy to talk to . He was definitely a big part of why I committed there and a big part of why I'll stay that way," he said. "I liked everything about Texas Tech, but Coach Mainord was the one who kind of got everything rolling in the right direction for me."
Clark committed to the Red Raiders in June over offers from Baylor, Colorado State, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, and Utah.
