Charlotte big man adding offers, working on game
As one would expect with a potential big man with athleticism and post presence, interest in picking up for Charlotte (E.E. Waddell), N.C., center Jervon Pressley.
Seton Hall, Clemson and Temple are among the latest schools to flirt with the 6-foot-7 Pressley. However, the first school to extend a scholarship offer to Pressley is the one that is maintaining the most regular contact as the fall signing period approaches.
"Ole Miss was my first offer," Pressley said earlier this week. "We talk a lot. We're real cool."
Pressley recently received an offer from Georgia State. Baylor, Charlotte, Appalachian State, Cincinnati and South Carolina have also offered. Pressley said the Gamecocks have not maintained contact since issuing the offer, while the Bearcats have stepped up their perceived level of interest in recent weeks.
"They're all even," Pressley said.
Pressley said he doesn't know when he'll sign, adding that he is focusing more on his upcoming SAT testing date in August and on his game than he is on his college choice.
Rivals.com's Brian Snow observed Pressley at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions at Duke University in Raleigh, N.C., earlier this spring and wrote Pressley "is at his best inside where he can use his athleticism and strength to convert. However he does tend to float to the perimeter and shoot jumpers, and that is where things go downhill quickly. Pressley can definitely be a good player when he focuses on what he does well and that is finish around the rim and rebound, and against a good frontline he was able to do that when focused and playing his game."
Pressley said he's spending quite a bit of his on-the-floor time since that tournament "working on my face-up moves. I'm pleased with my strength, my blocking ability and my finish around the rim. I like my back-to-the-basket moves."
